The Gift of Hearing: From Our Families to Yours

A Holiday Tradition Rooted in Kindness, Connection, and Community Care

At Clayton Park Audiology, we believe that hearing care is about much more than technology. It’s about connection, compassion, and supporting the people who make our community what it is. As a locally owned and independent hearing clinic in Halifax, we’re proud to care for every patient the way we would for our own family – with kindness, understanding, and truly personalized care.

Three years ago, we wanted to do something meaningful during the holiday season, something that reflected why we opened our doors in the first place. That idea became the Gift of Hearing Campaign, a tradition that has since become one of the most meaningful parts of our year.

What Is the Gift of Hearing Campaign?

Each year, we donate a set of premium rechargeable hearing aids and full start-up audiology services to a community member in the Halifax Regional Municipality who needs hearing care but cannot afford it.
We accept:

  • Self-nominations

  • Nominations from family, friends, neighbours, or caregivers

To make the process as accessible as possible, we keep nominations simple, welcoming anyone who may benefit from improved hearing.

Stories That Stay With Us: Past Recipients

Every year, we learn about many deserving candidates living throughout Halifax, Nova Scotia and it reminds us why this work matters so deeply.

2023 Recipients

In 2023, we had the honour of helping two individuals whose stories deeply moved us:

  • An older gentleman living with hearing loss for more than 30 years, relying on used hearing aids that weren’t programmed for his needs

  • A young woman born with hearing loss, who had worn hearing aids as a child but no longer qualified for provincial funding as an adult

Both shared how life-changing it was to hear clearly again.

2024 Recipient

Our 2024 recipient was a man described by his wife as someone who “always puts his own needs last.” A devoted volunteer in the Deaf community, he spent countless hours helping others communicate. It was our privilege to finally help him hear more easily and fully.

These stories remind us that hearing care is not a luxury. It is a life-changing form of support that everyone deserves access to.

Who Can Be Nominated?

If you’re reading this and thinking, “Someone else probably needs it more,” please don’t count yourself out.

Every hearing journey is unique, and each one deserves to be heard.
You can nominate:

  • Yourself

  • A family member

  • A neighbour

  • A coworker

  • Anyone you believe could benefit from hearing care but lacks access

No story is too small. No person is undeserving.

How to Submit a Nomination

Nominations are open from November 1 to December 19.
Our 2025 recipient will be announced on Monday, December 22—just in time for the holidays.

To nominate someone (or yourself), simply:

  • Drop by our clinic,

  • Call us, or

  • Email us

A member of our team will gather a few details. No lengthy application required.

Why We Continue This Tradition

The Gift of Hearing Campaign is more than an annual giveaway. It’s a reflection of our values as a family-owned clinic in Halifax and our gratitude for the community that supports us year after year. Your referrals, reviews, and kind words allow us to continue offering this program and help someone who truly needs it.

Thank you for helping us share the Gift of Hearing once again this holiday season.
